"Gargantuan" Hurricane Helene could bring "catastrophic and deadly storm surge" to parts of Florida Gulf Coast

Hurricane Helene is strengthening because it moves across the jap Gulf of Mexico toward a forecast Thursday night or early Friday morning landfall over Florida's Significant Bend Coast and is "predicted to deliver catastrophic winds and storm surge into the northeastern Gulf Coast," the Nationwide Hurricane Center explained early Thursday. "Preparations to protect lifetime and home need to be rushed to completion," the center urged.

The National Weather Service warned in a post on X that, "A catastrophic and deadly storm surge is probably going together portions on the Florida Significant Bend coast, wherever inundation could reach as substantial as twenty toes over floor stage, in addition to damaging waves. There's also a Hazard of lifetime-threatening storm surge together the rest from the west coast on the Florida Peninsula. Inhabitants in those locations need to observe advice offered by neighborhood officers and evacuate if instructed to take action."
